Things aren't the way they were back when you dealt with it.....

Here's the first rant in a while. I've just recently started feeling better. I'm now in my fifth month of pregnancy, so I'm feeling pretty good. But now, especially since I'm showing, I'm getting all the unwanted advice and such of pregnancy. Someone that is close in age to you is one thing, but I'm getting really pissed off at all the people who haven't been pregnant in 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 years. Things have changed!!!! Then there are the old wives tales that people still contend are true....arggh!

The cat thing bothers me. "Oh, you're going to have to get rid of your cat." "Your cat is going to kill your baby." "Cats are bad for babies." Get over it! It's not true! Like any other pet (like dogs who never seen to get a bad rap!) or a small child, you just have to get them ready for it and then once it happens, supervise, supervise, supervise!

Then there is this. "You shouldn't carry that." "You need to sit down." "You shouldn't be walking up all those stairs." "You shouldn't be exercising." Yes, I shouldn't carry anything really heavy, but I can carry a bag of groceries, I can help someone move a lightweight table, I can carry most packages. I'm allowed, even encouraged to exercise. I'm not supposed to all of a sudden give up an active lifestyle just because I'm pregnant!

Then I want to know why people seem to think bigger size clothing is the same as maternity clothing? Do they not realize that a pregnant body is built differently than a fat body???? Just because you have clothing that is too big for you, doesn't mean it will ever fit me. I normally wear a small shirt. Right now, I'm just having issues with the waist of shirts. (Even empire waists are tending to fit a little tight right now. At least one of my empire waists my belly shows now.) I actually am, for the first time in my life, filling out the top pretty nicely. If your medium or large is too big on you. It's going to be really big on me. My bust size is still too small for a medium or large. And I won't grow into it because maternity clothing are longer in front to accomidate a growing belly. My belly will just stick out of the bottom of the shirt while I end up having too much room in the top. Note to the older people I mentioned above: Just because your maternity clothes were mumus, tent dresses or just plain ugly, so you just tried to get away with bigger clothes, doesn't mean that women have to do that now. Maternity clothes are pretty stylish now. They are meant to fit a pregnant woman's body and make her look and feel nice. And I'm not even going to go into the fact that something a 60-year-old woman would wear is not usually something a 30-year-old woman would wear. So don't even try to give us clothing that is too big for you. It just doesn't work!

So concludes my rant for now. I'm sure I'll have more maternity rants in the next four and a half months. And then I'll start on all that unwanted baby advice!
