Friends into Aquaintances

Is there a such point in your life that your friends become your aquaintances? I know people drift apart, but don't most people at least one friend who sticks with them? Or if old friends become aquaintances, new friends take their places. I'm just curious. Am I the only one who feels that she doesn't know anyone anymore?
